Yes, it has been a week since Baby Raelynne was born. Today, she is exactly one week old. Since she came home, we have been trying to get used to waking up middle of the night. So far it has been okay. She constantly need to be feeded every 3 hours, sometimes earlier. She opens her eyes more frequently now. Earlier in the week, she has only been able to take about 1 ounce of milk and slowly increasing to 1 and a half to 2 ounces. She’s definately growing fast.

Baby Raelynne also received her first basket of flowers yesterday from Aunty Sue (Thank you Aunty Sue!).

Raelynne Wong Sheng Tao

Wong Sheng Tao

Baby Raelynne has got a full name! It took her “kung kung” (grandfather/my father in law) three days to search for a suitable name. Her middle name “Sheng” has already been fixed for our generation thus only the last given name is required. My father in law has a book where one can search for a suitable name based on the date and time of birth. It must also match the surname and middle given name. Many suggestions were also given by my sister in law, but after checking with book, it wasn’t suitable for her.

There were two options, one was Sheng Ti and one was Sheng Tao. My wife and I decided to pick Sheng Tao after consulting with my father and sister in law. Tao means ‘peach’ in English.

Baby Raelynne Wong Sheng Tao, you now have a full name and Daddy can go and make your birth certificate tomorrow.

By the way, managed to capture Baby Raelynne with her eyes opened this afternoon.

Meaning of Raelynne

Many have asked me how did we come up with the unique name of “RaeLynne”. The answer is simple, Internet! Many other names are too common now and it would be better to have a more unique name for our daughter.

Raelynne can be defined in the following meanings:

BabiesOnline.com – Precious sisters
ThinkBabyNames.com – The girl’s name Raelynne is related to Rae. Search for names similar to Raelynne starting with Ra-, Rae- or ending with -ne, -nne, -ynne, -lynne, -elynne.

Raelynne is a rare female first name as it was not ranked for females of all ages in the 1990 U.S. Census. Raelynne is a rare surname as it was not ranked for people of all ages in the 1990 U.S. Census.

Baby Raelynne and Mummy has come home

Baby Raelynne and Mummy has returned home yesterday after doctor certified that they can go home. It was the first day that we started as full time parents. Baby Raelynne has been consistent in her feeding time, which is every three hours. I am trying to get use to waking up in the middle of the night. So far Baby Raelynne has been behaving quite well. She is currently the VVIP in the house. Our room has become more or less a nursery for my nieces. They spend more time in our room now and Baby Raelynne is the centre of the attraction. In a day we can pick up her normal habits and behaviour. She’s sensitive to light and sound. Oh yes, she doesn’t like to be disturb when she’s sleeping, and of course don’t like to be in dirty diapers.

We are still deciding on her Chinese name. My father in law is still looking for a suitable name and a few suggestions has been provided. Hopefully by today we are able to decide on her Chinese name.

Here are some of the latest photos of Baby Raelynne.

Announcing the arrival of baby Raelynne Wong…

Today was such as unexpected day. Everything in the morning was going on fine until my wife SMS-ed me and told me that the baby has not been moving for few hours. Even early in the morning she said she could not feel any movement. After I left for work, she felt something for a while. We were told by the doctor that my wife should count the number of times the baby moved (or kicked). Each hour must have at least one movement. If can’t feel any movement for at least more than an hour, we should immediately go to the hospital. That is what I told my wife. Since she can’t feel any movement, we go to the hospital immediately. At the hospital, the doctor perform an ultrasound and can see that the baby is doing fine. Heartbeat is visible and everything else is okay. He then advise to do a CTG scan (something that monitors the baby’s heartbeat). It lasted for almost two hours and everything seems normal. Nevertheless, she still can’t feel any movement. We were asked to made a decision. Take the risk and wait or deliver the baby via c-section. Since my wife really didn’t feel any good movements, we decided to have the baby delivered. Surgery was scheduled at 4pm, but actual time took place at around 4.50pm. During c-section, everything went on smoothly. It was my first time in the operating theater as well. Was trying not to look at the delivery directly because I may just faint when see the sight of blood.

Baby Raelynne Wong was delivered successfully and safely at 5.07pm, 22 June 2006 at Sabah Medical Centre weighting 2.21kg and around the length of 45cm. Mother and daughter is fine. Raelynne really knows how to cry. Immediately after she was taken out, she gave her loudest cry. A paeditrician was on standby to check on her and ensure everything was okay.

Here are the very first photos of baby Raelynne after she was delivered. Since I don’t have my normal camera around (they probably won’t allow me to take photos), so I had to snap this with my camera phone.

36 weeks

36 weeks scan

My wife is in her 36th week pregnancy now. In a couple of weeks time more, the baby will be here. From this week onwards, its purely a waiting game for both of us. Everyone’s pretty excited as well. We’ve also started looking into a few names for our new born. Its no secret about it, its going to be a girl. Looking at names like Raena, Raelynne, etc. We’ve also decided to follow my brothers children that their names will all start with ‘R’, just like my siblings’ names start with ‘J’.

Went for the usual weekly review now and so far everything is okay. Just a few reminders that the doctor asked my wife to observe since due date is nearing. Everything else at home has been prepared, necessary items bought and so forth. My cousin have also kindly given us their baby cot and we sent it to my father in-law to touch up and perform minor repairs.

Photog from Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu

During my weekend Executive Manager on Duty (MOD) at Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu, I managed to take some photographs for the hotel just to further try out my skills on my DSLR camera. Of course, more improvements need to be done. I wouldn’t say the shots were very good, probably because it was done in a rush. But anyhow, more need to be learn on how to fully take control of the camera.

Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Environmental Week

The MAH launched its environmental week this morning with a rafting competition. The raft was no ordinary raft. It has to be build with used mineral water bottles. A number of hotels in Kota Kinabalu participated in the competition. Le Meridien came up second last due to some technical error. More to human error actually. The raft flip over and turned upside down. But the associates' spirits and motivation were not affected and they continued their way to the finish line with the raft upside down!

Below are some photos of the rafting competition.
