Mummy and I wish you a very happy birthday, Daddy! And not forgetting “Kor Kor” Ryan’s birthday as well. I really would like to wish you personally, but as Mummy and you know, I still can’t talk, I can only make sounds :-)

Poster sized Raelynne

raelynneposter.jpg

Late last week, a business friend talked to me about a large format printer. I asked her how good is the print out quality because plotters were mainly meant for printing design plans and so on and not so much on coloured posters. She said it can print as good as any high end inkjet printer. I asked her jokingly if she can print out a sample of Raelynne’s photos. To my suprise, she said okay!

So I e-mailed her the photos and this evening she called and said the photos have been printed. I was quite excited because I definately can’t do this printing any where unless I own a RM12,000+ plotter. To my surprise when I open the roll up, the resolution printed is just amazing. The size? Three A3 size papers! The photo above doesn’t really show how big it is, but physically its really huge. If you compare Raelynne’s head on the printed poster, its triple the size of her actual head, that’s how big it is.

I came home and showed it to Raelynne.

Daddy: Tao Tao (her Chinese name), who is this ah? *Showing the poster*
Raelynne: ooo, aahhh, cooooo *big smile*
Daddy: You know ah who is it?
Mummy: Tao Tao lai de (Its you Tao Tao)
Raelynne: ooo, aaahh, heheheh, mmmmm *big smile again*

Last week at the gynae

Last week, while my wife had her review at the medical centre…

Doctor: So, does he (your husband) wakes up at night now to feed the baby?
Morin: *Smiling* Nope. As usual, sleep like a pig.

Doctor proceed with scanning and hears Daddy singing lullaby to Raelynne.

Doctor: Wah, your husband now knows how to sing song now ah?
Morin:
Ya, become singer already.

(In Raelynne’s mind): Daddy always sing the same song one, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and the famous I love you, you love me Barney song.

The visit before this, the doctor asked me.

Doctor: So, do you wake up at night to feed the baby?
Julian: Nope *smiling*
Doctor: Okay-lah at least you are honest. I have asked other Daddies and they said yes, but their wife grinning at the back indicating a no.

To be honest, big credit is given to my wife who wakes up every night to feed Raelynne. As for me, I must admit I’m very bad at waking up at night. The most is I get up upon hearing Raelynne cry, trying to console her and after Mummy carry her to feed her, I went back to sleep no knowing what happened next. However, got some improvement last night where I fed Raelynne at 10pm while Mummy went to sleep (due to lack of sleep lately). Nowadays, at night I usually bring Raelynne to sleep by carrying her and singing the same ol’ boring lullaby :-) .

Taking away the pacifier…

pacifier.jpg

Can all parents relate to the above comic? :-) I’m sure one day we shall have problems (or maybe NO problems at all) to get our children off the pacifier. I myself for one during childhood days stuck on to my pacifier until quite “old”. Hopefully, we won’t have problems getting Raelynne off the pacifier in the future. At least now we only use it when she refuse to sleep and luckily she will automatically churn out her pacifier once she falls into deep sleep.

Raelynne’s first party invitation

Raelynne attended her first birthday party invitation yesterday afternoon. It was her cousin brother’s birthday party. In my earlier posts, I have posted up photos of Ryan, my nephew. In fact, Ryan shares the same birthday as me this coming Friday, 29th September. He will be 1 years old and I will be………. less than 30 :-)

ryanbirthday01.jpg
I’m one years old today… (not today lah, on 29th September)

Ryan celebrated his birthday earlier and his parents had the party at McDonald’s. Being 1 year old, he doesn’t really know how to play with other children. So basically his party was for his parents’ friends’ children. Afterall, Ryan still can’t walk properly yet. As for Raelynne, she too can’t play or eat anything, but we noticed that she was very curious with her surroundings, probably look all new to her. Furthermore, there was so much noise. She keep on looking around and around.

Ryan with his Daddy and Mummy

We gave Ryan his photobook as birthday present and his parents were so happy. My sister in law’s sister was even more excited when she looked at the book. She said I could turn it into a business and market it in Sabah. Perhaps that’s not such a bad idea! Many people still do not know about the affordable photobooks that Pixart creates so I believed they will become quite successful in their photobook idea.

“Chut chuts” (pacifiers) and bottle teats

Since my wife went for slimming session at this moment, I’m sitting at home thinking about how many pacifiers and nippies that we have bought just for Raelynne alone. Oh ya, in case you are thinking, Raelynne is with my FIL and MIL in their house. I get some quiet time at home blasting the home theater away with my favourite Jazz music.

bottle_airflow.jpgGetting back to the pacifiers and bottle teats, I think almost every other week we bought one pacifier. In the early days when Raelynne was still few weeks old, we went through probably six or seven nipples until we decided to invest on Avent bottles. That was really one good investment. We known all along that Avent is a good brand for baby bottles, but then again, Raelynne was premature and compared her to Avent bottle, the bottle probably looked bigger. We got Avent when she was about one and a half months old. Even then, the teat that came with the bottle had a fast flow (it stated 1++ months on the label). Other reasons for our search is also because of the colic that Raelynne have been experiencing. Most bottles, although claimed to have anti-colic system, but yet, she still gets it. But Avent one is really proven with Raelynne to reduce colic during feeding. So I had to go look for another Avent teat, luckily there’s one for 0+ months. This time it suited her and the case of looking for the most suitable teat diminished.

Then come the pacifier, I think all in all we have bought over 7 pacifiers. Raelynne’s aunty (my SIL) also bought some and my wife bought some. Most of them are either had the pacifier blocking and knocking Raelynne’s nose or the pacifier’s nipple is too big and shaped weirdly.

Alas, last week my wife went to the hypermarket to get something and found a suitable pacifier for Raelynne. So far, as we can see, she liked it. Usually if she doesn’t like it, the pacifier can shoot out like a rocket from her mouth the moment we put it in.

Nevertheless, my take on pacifier is that she must stop using them when she grow older. I wouldn’t want her to stick around her pacifier which I see with other kids who are already like 4 or 5 years old. I’m not a pacifier supporter but I know it does help especially when she’s cranky. However, I’m a guilty party myself since I used a pacifier until quite old when I was still a toddler! My Mum told me this and she told my wife as well! Wow! Super embarrassed lah :-) **Gotta go search my naked baby photos and hide it before my wife finds it**

Oh my! Raelynne scratched herself!

raelynne3months_09.jpg
Raelynne’s strong grip with sharp fingernails :-)

I came home yesterday and found out that Raelynne scratched herself. It was not her first time though. However, this time, it was more visible and longer lines in between her eyes and just below her right hand eye. Luckily she didn’t scratch her eyes. I asked Mummy what happened and she said Raelynne accidently scratched herself when she wasn’t wearing her mittens.

Raelynne’s fingernails has been growing so fast that when Mummy cut it today, tomorrow it grows back to the same length! Not only it grow fast, its also sharp.

Daddy! Carry me! Carry me!

On the other hand, yesterday I managed to visit a few mummies’ blogs who also featured their children. It was interesting to read up other parents’ experiences with their children. Among a few I visited are mom2ashley, Jutz1Blog, LaundryAmah, Hui Sia – Joshua and Crumbs of Life. I hope to visit others one as well and establish a friendship with them.

BabyCenter’s resources

BabyCenter came into our lives since even when Morin and I were trying to have a baby. To be honest, BabyCenter has answer many of our doubts and queries (other than the Doctor) with regards to our daughter. The BabyCenter account was registered under my wife’s name, but I read the articles 90% of the time. I must admit that almost every article featured is true and happened during my wife’s pregnancy. You can have your baby’s development week by week basis sent to you by e-mail. I have read every week of it until Raelynne came into the world and almost every week shows the correct development. Almost every symptoms and signs were also corrected written in BabyCenter.

Even until now, we are still subscribing to the weekly newsletter which tracks Raelynne’s baby development. I think BabyCenter must have put in a lot of time and resources to feature the right articles for the right weeks. Their database must be huge!

We will post up BabyCenter’s week by week development newsletter here whenever we receive them via e-mail. Click to view BabyCenter’s 3 month old development newsletter.

Baby Raelynne is 3 months old

Baby Raelynne is officially 3 months old today! She had her triple antigen and polio injection today as well as her regular checkup with Dr. Anthony. In terms of growth development, Raelynne is now 55cm in height and weighting 4.40kg. This means that she has already put on at least 2.2kg since birth. Her Paeditrician said she is growing quite well for a premature baby, which is a good sign.

“I am 3 months old today!”

Since early this morning, she has already been crying and making noise looking for attention. She probably knows that today she will get injection so she was a bit cranky since very early in the morning. Luckily she only cried for a few minutes after her injection was given. It will be more exciting to see her grow from now on because soon we will see her turn herself and perhaps do more baby talk.

Military coup in Bangkok, Thailand

Updated: 21st September 2006
Apparently, my parents’ trip back from Bangkok was not affected by the Military coup on Wednesday. In fact, all of them didn’t even know about the coup until they were back in Kota Kinabalu. All is well!

***************

I received a call early this morning from my cousin who reside in Bangkok that she was looking for my parents. I asked her why and she informed me that there has been a military coup in Bangkok and the state of emergency has been declared. She was asking if I heard anything from my parents who is currently in Bangkok for holiday with their close friends. My mum told me the other day that they are taking an early flight out today so I wasn’t really sure if they will return today.

I checked the flight schedules and tried calling their mobile but no success. I hope they have successfully boarded the flight back to Kota Kinabalu via Brunei. Various reports from other blogs mentioned that mobile phone networks were shutdown and there are rumours that all transportation is halted. From various news reports like CNN and BBC, everything is calm and no violence reported. We shall wait and see whether my parents will call up when they reach Brunei.

Photobook for Ryan

Since Ryan, my nephew, is going to celebrate his birthday this Sunday at McDonald’s, we decided to get him a Pixart photobook as a souvenir and record of all his days as baby in his first year. The photobook arrived today and again, Pixart has developed and published a good quality book. My brother copied a whole lot of photos and asked me to burn into a DVD for him to keep. So I took the opportunity to use all the photos in there and make the photobook. However, in all the photos, there was none where three of them as a family. So I had to make up some story to say that I want to compile a photo album and need their photo. After much waiting, I decided to take that photo on the spot when they were all home for dinner. With that photo, it completes the photobook. I will try to snap a few photos of the book and post it up here.

1 more week to 3 months old

Just one more week, Raelynne will be 3 months old. She will also go for her regular injection and review with her Paeditrician. Day after day she is growing up smarter and can more or less know what she wants. Sometimes at night, while sleeping in Daddy or Mummy’s arms, she can just suddenly laugh loudly. I guess she must have had a dream.

Happy Birthday Mummy!

Today is Mummy’s birthday and Daddy brought Mummy to @mosphere Restaurant (the one can turn around one) for lunch. As for me, “Poh Poh” (Grandmother) took care of me in her house in Donggongon. What to do, I am still too young to go out and enjoy with Daddy and Mummy. They are afraid that I will cry and distrupt their lunch. They don’t want to go out for dinner because I have to stay at home preferbly before 6pm due to the “Ghost Festival” month. So it is not recommended for small baby like me to be out late at night.

When Daddy and Mummy came and fetch me, I heard Daddy said the food quite nice at @mosphere except for the dessert. The chocolate fondant taste better at Le Meridien than @mosphere. Daddy also said the restaurant was spinning around quite fast and that make Daddy dizzy a bit. Anyway, what do I know about all this? I’m only a baby-mah.

I like to be carried this way…

For Mummy’s birthday this time, Daddy bought her a new Nokia 6233 mobile phone to replace Mummy’s old mobile phone. Daddy gave Mummy the mobile phone the night before. When Daddy came home, he went upstairs and stay in the room for quite sometime. Don’t know what he was doing there. Then I found out Daddy put the mobile phone with the card on the dressing table. After dinner, Mummy want to carry me upstairs to sleep but Daddy said let me sleep for few more minutes and ask Mummy to take my baby things up first. Mummy went up and was in the room for 10 minutes. Then she come down smiling and kiss Daddy and said thank you. She said Daddy very cheeky, pretend and make excuse to let me sleep longer. Actually Daddy want Mummy to go up first and find the present on the dressing table. Mummy was happy she got new mobile phone. I’m sure she will play games with it when I am sleeping.

Mummy with Reyanna “che che”, Rianne “che che”, Aunty Yang Ching

This will be my first time celebrating Mummy’s birthday and there’s many more to come. Daddy bought a cake on the way home from Poh Poh’s house and celebrate with all my “che che” (sisters) cousins at home. Its a pity Rachel “che che” fall asleep before she could sing birthday song to Mummy. As for me, I was already fast asleep when they all sing birthday song and eat birthday cake. Afterall, I can only drink milk and cannot eat anything solid yet. So its ok-lah.
