I am so happy. I have managed to conquer vertical photography with confidence. All this while, if you notice, I rarely do vertical photography due to one fear I have, the flash not able to fully cover the object. I spent my Saturday afternoon wisely with some research and DIY (Do It Yourself) with some cheap materials. Actually, I saw this “object” sold somewhere in the Internet, thus I decided to try it out myself with my own household materials. Still don’t get what I mean? Look below.

This is what I meant by vertical photography with flash that can’t produce proper lighting and can see visible shadows

Then with a plastic container found in my mum’s kitchen and a flash gun, cut the hole that fits into your flash.

After hole is cut, tape with masking tape on the opening of the hole to prevent scratches on the flash gun as well as to protect the sharp edges. Test by attaching the container to the flash gun

Walaaaa! With a cheap container stucked on a flash gun, I can produce this result!

From that point onwards, crystal clear, evenly balanced lighting for all vertical photography
I’m so happy. It is basically a home made diffuser for use mainly in vertical photography. With horizontal photography, it won’t make a lot of difference than vertical photography. However, with a fairly big container, it will definately capture the eyes of the public who will wonder, why this silly photographer has a big container over his flash gun. Whatever silly comments given, I couldn’t be bothered because I get full satisfaction for the vertical photography I produced.
This finding/solution is just in time for my cousin’s wedding on Friday where I will be the wedding photographer!

Do It Yourself anything also can lah
So as long as you get the end results.
Immomsdaughter, if you have a normal digi camera without any external flash, then its not possible to do as your flash will always point to the front. I have a digital SLR (pro) camera, thus I can manipulate the flash. That’s the big difference between auto camera and fully manual (with fully auto functions). The diffence also in quality. The only thing is that SLR camera are like bricks. Not easy to move around with it and not any person can handle the camera, thus if you ask someone else to take photo on your behalf, they probably find it difficult than the normal point and shoot camera. Now you know why I rarely appear in photos one, cos I’m the photographer.
