88888

88,888 kilometres!

That was what was shown on my car’s ODO meter yesterday. My car is currently 4 years and few months old since I last bought it. Its nothing to shout about, but it has been quite reliable since it was bought. Its a Malaysian made car (that’s what I can afford that time), although I’d really like a Japanese car but the prices were out of my budget. In fact, I currently love the new Honda Civic. Gosh its my dream car but its cheapest price tag of RM117,000 is way out of my line. I would have to live on bread and butter for 7 years.

Anyway, back to my car, parts have been quite expensive. So far I think I have spent thousands of RM to maintain it. One of the costliest parts was the power window assembly which cost almost RM500! It was running like a new car when I changed the timing belt couple of months ago which cost around Rm500 as well.

Hopefully, car prices will drop further this year and perhaps I can consider a new car. But that would also mean the current market price of my car will also drop. Anyhow, shall live it with it until such day I can afford a better car out there.

Self Made Christmas Greetings

christmascard.jpg

Nowadays, with the availability of Internet access, we tend to send e-cards instead of the good ol’ greeting cards to our relatives and friends. However, I am still one of those people who like to send real greeting cards, whether its Christmas or Chinese New Year. As Christmas is getting closer and closer (though we don’t really celebrate it), I’d always like to take some time to write greeting cards and send to some of my relatives and friends across Malaysia and internationally. Usually, I’d buy the cards and send them. This year, with the availability of a good printer and scrapping materials, I’m going to do my own cards and send them out. My Mum usually sends greeting cards to her close friends, so I asked her if she would like me to do something up for her, like perhaps put in all her grandchildren photos in a nicely designed Christmas card and have it printed out. She said that’s a good idea.

So I came up with the design shown above for my Mum that shows all the grandchildren, including Raelynne of course. Afterall, her friends always send her greeting cards and asked her how many grandchildren does she have and so forth. So this would be a good idea to send to all her friends to show them this Granny got this many grandchildren.

I’m going to design my own greeting cards later on and send them out both via “snail” mail and e-mail.

Solid food

My wife has recently fed Raelynne with some solid food. It started few days ago and this time she’s more receptive to it. I guess when she crosses the five months mark, there were some changes and she’s quite happy with the solid food. We bought the Nestle baby rice few weeks ago, but was not successful in feeding her with it because she couldn’t wait as it was too slow for her. Nowadays, she will have two solid food feedings. One in the morning and one in the evening. It would last her at least 4 hours plus before she cries for milk.

Mmmm… yummy.

See, my face so dirty…

So solid food has started, she also can turn herself fully just that she can’t turn and lift her head up so she ended up turning 3/4 of her body only. The only thing she’s not doing is sleep through the night.

Anyway, weekend was usual for us. We went to my in law’s place. Raelynne didn’t like it much at first, most probably because she has not been there for two weeks. Last week we didn’t go there. After sending her there, my wife and I took the opportunity to “pak toh” again, this time for almost the whole afternoon. Then we went back to in law’s place to have dinner before going back home.

What is the fastest way…

to cure ulcer?

I have been having this ulcer for two days now and its really irritating. I can’t enjoy my food nor drinks. I used this greenish powder (melon something) bought from China which is quite effective in soothing the irritation and occasionally pain. But I want a fast painless solution so that I can go back eating and enjoying food. Don’t tell me to use salt, cos’ that will surely make me scream like mad but I know its proven effective. However, I don’t like the feeling.

I think its my fault also. With the ulcer, my wife and I ate KFC yesterday for lunch, which is heaty and caused the ulcer not to get any better.

Any other effective methods that can cure within one day?

Got hit by another tag wor…

This morning I found out I got tagged again, this time by Joshua’s Mom. This time there’s more questions and lengthy answers. I think I’ll just cut and paste and remove the answers and put in my own answers lah, faster.

New hosting @ JulianMorin.com

We have officially moved here from http://julianmorin.wordpress.com/ today. With our very own hosting service, we can have more flexibility in customising our blog and also our very own website at http://www.julianmorin.com/. The new hosting service would be much faster as it is hosted in Malaysia, where the bulk of our friends and relatives reside in.

At this point of time, I am still further enhancing the site, where it is the blog or in the main website where most of our photos will be stored. Please bear with us for a moment until we fully complete the site.

Thanks!

It has been 10 years since …

I left secondary school. Earlier tonight, I attended the 45th Annual Dinner of the Association of Ex-Students of La Salle and Sacred Heart at Magellan Sutera Harbour. It was a great occassion because I managed to meet up with my former teachers, husband and wife, Ramlee and Marinah there. It was since I left school that I have never met them again until tonight. It was really good to be able to catch up with them again. They taught me Kemahiran Hidup (Living Skills) and Geography during lower secondary. I was informed that they are back in Kota Kinabalu to do a research for their PhD. We used to communicate via e-mail but after awhile lost touch. Anyway, I handed them my business card and get them to restore the email communications again when they return to West Malaysia.

We managed to take a group photo together with their camera. Perhaps later I will get them to send a copy to me so that I can post it up here in my blog.

34 Weeks

Today is the start of the 34th week of my wife's pregnancy. Roughly in 6 weeks time or later, the baby will be out soon. Everyone's pretty anxious now.

Starting today, the new Financial Controller starts work. He seems to be a very humble and nice person to work with. Very friendly indeed as well.

Harvest Festival – 30th & 31st

I am on two days public holiday due to Sabah's Harvest Festival celebration. Took the time to clean up the aquarium and brought my nieces out. They've been bugging my wife and I to go to the beach but lately the weather has been pretty wet every afternoon.
